Representing the Municipality of Port Hope, George Harvey joined the Northumberland CFDC in 2009.
Graduating with an Honours B.A. in Economics from the University of Leeds in England George began his career with the Royal Army Service Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant.
After leaving the National Service George worked as a Sales Representative for Burroughs Corporation in Manchester England. Moving up the corporate ladder quickly, George maintained positions as the Account Manager in London servicing the Midland Bank and eventually the Branch Manager of all London Banks.
In 1974 George became the Director of Financial Marketing Worldwide for Burroughs Corporation in Detroit and later became President of the Canadian Subsidiary of the Burroughs Corporation.
Since that time George has lent his business expertise to Rolm Canada, serving as the Company President, IBM where he was the Vice President of Marketing Telecommunications and finally President of ATT Canada where he remained until his retirement in 2000.
George's devotion to community organizations is as impressive as his career holding appointments with the Junior Achievement of Canada National Board as the President from 1993-1996, Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Director of the National Ballet of Canada. Since residing in the Port Hope Area George has been active in local initiatives serving as the President for the Capitol Theatre Heritage Foundation. Strengthened by his impressive success in business and strong commitment to volunteer initiatives George is an invaluable addition to the Northumberland CFDC.
