An active member of Northumberland CFDC Board of Directors for well over a decade Jon Tondeur represents the Town of Cobourg.
Born in the United Kingdom, Jon attended the London Naval Training School, King Edward VII Naval College and served as a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy before leaving the sea to attend Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. A graduate of the Civil Engineering Program, Jon remained loyal to his engineering profession, working as both a District Engineer for the Province of Ontario and a County Engineer for the County of Northumberland until his retirement.
During almost 40 years of living and working within the County, together with his wife Thelma, two daughters and three sons, Jon has committed much of his time to various volunteer organizations within the area. His involvement includes service with many organizations including Scouts Canada, Habitat for Humanity, Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Cobourg Rotary Club.
Jon has lent his professional expertise to the Northumberland Business Assistance Corporation, the County Economic Development Task Force and the Community College Engineering Advisory Board. Jon's strong devotion to the local area has made him a recipient of the Golden Jubilee Medal for Community Service. A professional engineer and an active volunteer, Jon is an asset to the CFDC Board of Directors.
