Aengus Finnan - Manager, Self Employment Programs Aengus Finnan serves as Program Manager of the OSEB program with the unique perspective of having originally been a client of the program in 1999 at which time he founded an international Arts, Events and Record Company (Shelter Valley Productions Ltd.). As company owner and artist Aengus toured professionally for over 8 years with signature performances at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Australia, Japan and coast to coast to coast venues throughout Canada and the USA. Through this company he released several critically acclaimed albums, produced various fundraising projects, and co-founded the acclaimed annual Gordon Lightfoot tribute tour
His work has also included leadership, advocacy, and consultation with artists, industry and community groups as well as in-service and educational workshops for students, teachers, and public alike. As a certified teacher, Aengus taught in Moosonee (on the James Bay coast), in Inuvik (in the Northwest Territories), and instructed the OSEB program at NCFDC in 2008 before taking on the role of Program Manager as of January 2009.
His volunteer community work includes the creation of the Shelter Valley Folk Festival (a registered Federal Charity), a founding role with the Arts Council of Northumberland, a founding role with the Park Theatre Foundation, and an elected term as Board President of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals.
Passion, engagement, relevance, innovation, marketing, consistency, and stakeholder research are skills and values Aengus brings to all endeavours.
A graduate of the International Baccalaureate program at Lester B Pearson College in BC, Aengus holds an BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, a B.Ed. from Nippissing University in North Bay, and was presented with a National Decorative Medal for his cultural and humanitarian contributions to Canada.
Having grown up in Northumberland County Aengus also brings a deep commitment to and knowledge of the immediate community.
