James W. Simmons - Program Development ManagerAn 8 year veteran of the Northumberland CFDC, Program Development Manager Jamie Simons facilitates online learning opportunities and community outreach programs.
With a degree in Journalism and Communications from Ryerson University and a certificate in Youth Employment Counselling Jamie remains dedicated to learning, successfully completing numerous continuing education courses in technology, marketing and communications. With an impressive work history, Jamie brings knowledge and understanding from previous experiences to the CFDC team. Prior to relocating in Cobourg, Jamie worked for the Province as both a Printing and Publishing Manager and Contract Consultant in Public Purchasing and Standard Forms Management. Once situated in Cobourg Jamie founded the Nbiz.ca division of the NCFDC and joined the organization in 2001. His current position entails work with the Online Learning Programs and Northumberland Youth Advisory Council.
Jamie's work with local initiatives illustrates his strong commitment to the surrounding community. His past positions have included Chair of the Blue Box, Board Member for United Way, Chair of the Distress Centre Northumberland, Member of the Town of Cobourg Community Planning Committee and Marketing Chair for the Cobourg and District Chamber of Commerce. In addition to assisting a number of agencies with funding and grant proposals Jamie is a co-founder of the Transition House homeless shelter in Cobourg, established in direct response to a report on rural homelessness that he authored. Currently residing in Cobourg Jamie is the proud father of two teenage boys.
