Loan Programs

Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation is a not-for-profit, community-based corporation committed to stimulating community economic development, diversity and employment opportunities throughout Northumberland County by providing an array of business development, counselling and lending services to small and medium-sized enterprises through a variety of local initiatives.

We offer financing of up to $150,000 through the Northumberland CFDC Investment Fund. We are not in competition with other Financial Institutions, but rather a complement to them and, in fact, often work collaboratively with area banks toward finding financing solutions for local businesses. Clients must explore traditional financing services first. Should regular financing be either insufficient or not available Northumberland CFDC may be able to offer a viable financing option.

All financing decisions are made at the community level by our local Board of Directors. The following criteria may be taken into consideration when reviewing loan applications:

  • Purpose of the financing request
  • Reasonable expectation of economic viability
  • Creation or maintenance of jobs
  • Client character including credit history
  • Qualifications of the owners and/or managers
  • Personal investment or financial commitment
  • Security offered to protect investment
