Northumberland CFDC to host Market Readiness Workshop for Visual Artists and Artisans
November 4, 2008 The production and sale of art and craft plays a significant role in our local economy. In recognition of the importance of this economic sector, the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation is hosting a Market Readiness Workshop for visual artists and artisans on:
Monday November 24, 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at The Best Western Cobourg Inn and Conference Centre located at 930 Burnham Street in Cobourg.
This one day workshop is designed for artists and artisans who are interested in expanding their market to include Retail Shows and Trade shows.
The workshop will include topics such as creating a brand for your work, visual merchandising, preparing a show package, pricing, product quality, production schedules, understanding each show and its market, customer service, payment and packaging, and preparing a show checklist. On behalf of the Haliburton County Development Corporation, the workshop will be lead by Paul Portelli, an accomplished Eastern Ontario sculptor and ceramics artist, who has extensive experience in retail marketing of art and craft, booth design, exhibit designing, visual merchandising, and has operated his own gallery for over twenty years. Simultaneously, he has traveled throughout Ontario organizing and running workshops on Visual Merchandising, Branding, and Marketing for visual artists and artisans. This workshop is one of a series being provided in collaboration with the Eastern Ontario Development Program and is open to all who wish to participate.
The registration cost for the workshop is $20.00 which will also include a deli lunch buffet and artist workbook and is payable via cash or cheque upon arrival.
