Royal Winter Fair Part 1
September 4 2008 - Rural Eastern Ontario to benefit from $185,000 in Government of Canada Funding.
Northumberland-Quinte West MP, Rick Norlock, on behalf of the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Health and Minister for FedNor, announced $185,000 in Government of Canada funding under the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) in support of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Project led by Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC).
2008 is the second year that Eastern Ontario's presence will be felt at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, November 7-16, 2008, due to the support of the Eastern Ontario Development Program. The 15 CFDCs in Eastern Ontario have once again agreed to sponsor a 3000 square foot pavilion showcasing the very best of the Eastern Ontario value-added agri-food sector at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair.
With last year's visitor count totalling close to 350,000, the Royal is the largest indoor combined agricultural, horticultural, canine and equestrian event in the world.
This year's Eastern Ontario pavilion will feature a wide variety of truly Eastern Ontario products, sampling and selling wares from wineries, breweries, dairies, bakeries, farms, confectioneries, and more! This is a tremendous opportunity for Eastern Ontario agri-food, not only to market and sell their products, but also to make valuable business contacts and partnerships and to promote Eastern Ontario Excellence.
Northumberland CFDC Executive Director, Wendy Curtis, remarked, "The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is an amazing opportunity to promote Eastern Ontario. The organizing committee has worked to design a sophisticated, high class pavilion which will represent over 50 businesses and groups in Eastern Ontario."
